Statement by the Witan Chief – 10th April 2017.
Brothers and Sisters of the Faedertellus.
As many of you may be aware, whilst we have been diligently rebuilding our glorious nation, Micras has erupted into conflict. War has always formed a vital part of our culture, providing us with the opportunity to strengthen our resolve, cultivate courage and embolden leadership. For the past three years we have borne the brunt of this as we fought through the dark days of the Great Disaster. What could have decimated us, made us stronger and because of that we have been able to raise the banner of the Faedertellus. However during this period we lost touch with the world around us.
It now seems that Micras is a powder keg barely awaiting a spark to ignite. A fierce civil war has been raging through Hamland, which has in turn strengthened tensions between Shireroth and its allies against Jingdao. These tensions have now erupted into a formal declaration of war between the two nations with skirmishes increasing. Although it is unlikely that the theatre of war will encroach on our section of North Eastern Keltia, it cannot be ruled out that the Shirethian Naval Battlegroup stationed in the occupied Warring Islands. Could encourage elements hostile to Shirerothian forces to spread the conflict to our doorstep.
Because of this the Armed Forces will be put at full alert to ensure that any hostile forces that threaten the territorial integrity of the Faedertellus are quickly eliminated. Army engineers will be working with Diaspora Camps and local militias to strengthen existing defences and ensure that the Faedertellus will persevere.
As of yet due to our isolation over these past years we cannot take a firm stand for either side. As we do not yet have enough information, however I would note that we live in dark times. The threats that have emerged in recent years are far beyond what our military planners originally predicted back in West Grinstead. We now face threats from genetically mutated humanoids and the undead in Benicia, a collapsing Hammish state on Keltia, Pirates and terrorists settling in large numbers along the straits of Haifia, in addition to an on/off conflict between Shireroth and Jingdao. As such we must continue to grow our armed forces, strengthen our industry and forge links with other Britannic nations to ensure that we continue to forge onward and eradicate those that come to threaten us.
