Eastmoorland Enhancements ‘Hempcrete’ is a new composite building material produced by wet-mixing hemp shiv with a lime binder. The finished product provides a natural, breathable, insulated material which has thermal mass. Our product can be used either through casts, blocks or sprayed in conjunction with structural timber walls. Whilst it is also suitable for either the construction of new properties or the refurbishment of others.
Hempcrete was first developed in Eastmoorland several hundred years ago as an alternative to the traditional wattle & dowel structures that were common in New Sussex. This was due to the high density and availability of hemp crops that formed a staple crop for Eastmoorland Farmers.
The practice of Hempcrete gradually became a niche product as tastes and attitudes changed over time. However following the Evacuations and the Great Disaster, supplies of other building materials have become scarcer and traditional Hempcrete provides an ideal home grown and sustainable product for the reconstruction of the Faedertellus!
