Public Holidays and Working Week Bill
(1) Codification in law of public holidays and extent of the working week against the East Moorland Calendar.
(2) Public Holidays are days where all business except for those listed below are required to close or operate with restricted working hours;
a. Exempt Businesses restricted to opening between the hours of 1000-1600 include food markets, newsagents, pharmacies, gambling houses and shops.
b. Exempt Businesses with no restriction to opening hours include bars, pubs, restaurants, fuel stations, airports, train stations, fitness centres and sports stadia.
c. Businesses not named within the above are not exempt and are required to close on public holidays.
d. Failure to comply with the above may result in a fine up to a maximum value of 10 Denarii.
(3) Public Holidays are set by the Witan and generally deemed to occur on a continual basis. However the Witan may announce a special bank holiday occurring only once to celebrate certain events of importance.
(4) Recurring Public Holidays as initially established are as follows;
a. St Johns Day (01/01), Faedertellus Day (20/07), Pheonix Day (02/03), Honour Day (01/10), Alefest (01/13), Martyrs Day (13/04), Resistance Day (10/04) & Assentation Day (21/03).
(5) Where a public holiday occurs on a weekend, the closest working day will be given in lieu in accordance to the constraints given within the above.
(6) The weekdays of Aledaeg and Goddaeg form the weekend and are generally non-working days. However Goddaeg being the Sabbath day has protected restrictions with businesses required to close or operate with restricted working hours;
a. Exempt Businesses restricted to opening between the hours of 1000-1600 include food markets, newsagents, pharmacies, gambling houses and shops.
