On the 11th March 2017, a joint strike force comprised of the 3rd Battalion Steðeheard Militia and four Buladocga Aircraft launched an assault on the settlement of Borkin. The settlement itself was located close to the freight line intended to provide a communications link to Mercury and as such needed to be secured. At 0530 the Buladocga Squadron made several sorties over the occupied buildings within the settlement. During these sorties rockets were utilised to disrupt hostile fixed emplacements and cut off the enemies’ ability to provide any command & control to their units.
The 3rd Battalion then swept into the town from the East and West, utilising the main road that ran through the settlement. By utilising the confusion and poor discipline of the hostile force, the Battalion was able to quickly make ground and capture a number of key position within a short period of time. Under the cover of the Buladocga Squadron the 3rd Battalion pushed the remaining hostile forces into their remaining position, which was a hastily barricade fire station. Improvised Explosive surrounding the building forced the 3rd Battalion to dismount and surround the position on foot. However despite the brief stand-off, a mortar barrage from the 3rd Battalion killed and wounded the majority of the resisting combatants and forced the survivors to lay down their arms and surrender. The Survivors were then arrested for Terrorist activities and transported back to Newcastle-upon-Eastmoor for interrogation and sentencing. Meanwhile the majority of the 3rd Battalion remained to secure the settlement and clear any remaining IEDs.
In conclusion the operation was a success with the elimination of the hostile faction located within the settlement. In addition to providing the Faedertellus with a secure base of operations at the mid-point of the Nova English-Mercurian Freight Line.
