Post Operation Report – ‘Operation [REDACTED]’
Overview;
On the 15th April 2017 a squad from Spittle’s Scouts embarked on a reconnaissance mission to investigate an abandoned Nova English Weapons (N.E.W) storage depot within the Badlands. After breaching the secondary entrance to the bunker the team made an important discovery as detailed in the full report below.
Report;
As per the remit provided to us by the Ministry of Defence we were tasked to seek out an abandoned N.E.W (Nova English Weapons) storage depot located 145 miles to the South of the National Redoubt Region. Initial reports from a brief flyover presumed that the depot had not been breached and could still contain resources of benefit to the Faedertellus.
Following our briefing we made the journey by horseback and encountered a few independent farmsteads and survivalist communes on-route. Standard procedure was followed during these contacts and save for a farmstead overrun by bandits. The diaspora confirmed their allegiance to the Faedertellus and would await it expansion.
Upon arrival in the valley within which the depot was located, we were greeted by a single man who had spent the last few years living in a shack near the entrance. He claimed to have once worked in the facility but had lacked the necessary clearance to access the resources underground. After a full debrief with the individual we utilised his knowledge of the facility to formulate a new plan to access the facility via one of its secondary access points.
Utilising plastic explosives and a thermal charge, we were able to break through a reinforced escape exit hidden within the ventilation equipment. From there, three of our six man squad entered into the bunker and began to sweep the facility. After two hours the depot was confirmed as being clear, with no hostile or friendly persons being found within the facility. We then located the control systems to the main entrance and were able to confirm that they were operational.
Following this our signaller made contact with headquarters to update them on our progress. Meanwhile we performed a cursory inventory of the weapon and munition stocks located within the compound. Within the depot were two large storage halls, alongside a small accommodation area and the depot’s power plant. The accommodation area held little other than some miscellaneous personal items. However the storage halls were thoroughly packed with a wide variety of armaments, vehicles and munitions. Upon further investigation we located a further storage area with storage hall 1. Once again we utilised plastic explosives and a thermal charge to bypass the security door.
Upon entry to the area we discovered a large number of sealed munition crates, coated in a variety of warnings. Corporal [REDACTED] checked the serial code of the weapon system against the munition datasheet and confirmed that the cases contained WM-12 (Wælmist Nerve Agent 12) munitions. Following this due to the tactical importance of the discovery we immediately contacted command to inform them and request an immediate requisition operation to secure the munitions.
Two hours later a team of heavy lift helicopters and a company of Nova English Light Infantry arrived on site to secure the depot and air-lift the munitions back to the Faedertellus. In conclusion I can confirm that the operation to secure the depot has been a success that has helped to strengthen the Faedertellus.
Signed,
