Today I can confirm that a small party of six riders from the Steðeheard Militia have left the National Redoubt with a communication from the King. They will be travelling through the badlands bound for Fort Grinstead to seek out the Semi-Automatous Nova English government that operates within Mercury. Unfortunately it has been a number of years since contact has been made with our kin there and attempts to make radio contact have been hampered by failing radio equipment.
As such the decision has been made that six armed riders will courier the message directly. Due to the inherent poor conditions of the old infrastructure, horseback was chosen over the remaining vehicle fleet. Therefore based on known obstructions and predicted weather conditions we expect the team reach their destination within twelve days. Following which it will then take a further twelve days for the team to return. Their anticipated arrival date at the border is estimated to be the 2nd February 2017. Upon delivery of their message we hope to make contact with the outside world once again and gain intelligence on the world outside the National Redoubt.
We wish them the best of luck in their mission!
Colonel James Hild
Commander of the Newcastle-Upon-Eastmoor National Redoubt Garrison & the Steðeheard Militia.
The Republic of Mercury has received your party of couriers and extends greetings to them. The Government is keen to open ties with the reassembled Nova English government, in the hope that the two nations can in future work together to achieve prosperity. We have sent your couriers back each with a land vehicle and new communications equipment, in order that any future correspondence between our two nations can be made as quickly as possible.
We would also like to invite diplomats from the nation of Nova England to our country, so that we can begin what we hope will be a long and successful friendship between our two nations. Thank you for your visit.
The Provisional Witan, National Redoubt Command and the King would like to commend the Republic of Mercury for keeping the ancient capital of the Faedertellus safe. We hope that as we liberate the Badlands between our two nations we will be able to engage in further trade and joint projects.
We also appreciate the communications equipment and vehicles provided by yourselves. In addition to this, we can confirm that Dr Ulfrid Walker will be travelling via a light-aircraft to Mercury City. Upon his arrival he will become the main point of contact between the Republic of Mercury and the Kingdom of Nova England.
Sincere Regards,
Colonel James Hild Provisional Witan Chief Kingdom of Nova England
We would like to pass on the message that we have received your delegate, Dr Walker, at Mercury International Airport this morning. I am looking forward to meeting with him in person at Embassy Tower in Mercury City Centre. We have arranged a meeting for 4pm tomorrow afternoon to further our talks.
