The Lighthouse City State
The Laws of the Lighthouse City State were destroyed in a short war between an alliance of Baracao and Treesia and Babkha for control of the said territory during March 2004. Prior to their destruction the Keeper of the Lighthouse, Presidente Veto Julia, had overturned the democratic institutions of the LCS which were seeking to prevent the transfer of Lighthouse City State to the Republic of Baracao, which represented a cynical betrayal of the Treaty of Zinjibar between the Keeper and Babkha who held protectorate status over the LCS. The Keeper revoked the charter of the Lighthouse and allegedly issued a new one, which restricted citizenship rights to members of his family. The Lighthouse was closed to foreigners and its residents subjected to an apartheid regime. However the Imperial Babkhan Army discovered an oversight in the LCS’ new security arrangement, which enabled it to launch a righteous punishment attack, that resulted in the deleting of every topic and forum the rebellious keeper ever had. Babkha was only prevented from pursuing this conflict to victory by a disgraceful outbreak of disloyalty and political opportunism by the opposition parties in Kamalshahr who attempted what was in effect a coup against the regime of Hesam Jahandar under the pretence of an ethical concern for foreigners, foreigners who had shown no similar concern for the rights of Babkhans but who had instead conspired against the Kingdom. In spite of the circumstances in which the war ended, Baracao and Babkha were able to resume their alliance, relegating the LCS to a mere colonial issue. Nonetheless, the successful retaliation strike after the betrayal of Zinjibar was a glorious moment in Babkhan history that should be celebrated as proof of Babkha’s ever-present devotion to truth and justice.
In the wake of the Lighthouse War, the city-state was tacitly – if never officially – recognised as part of the 4th Republic of Baracao, as such when the government on the Islas de Libertad collapsed it was passed over to the Holy Empire of Minorca. With the Treaty of Minorca in January 2005 bringing union to the Babkhan and Minorcan Empires the Lighthouse City State became a Babkhan outpost in the Skerry Island chain, administered by the Babkhan constitution and laws. Isa bin Umra al Nouradin [Jesus Santiago] was accordingly appointed Governor of the sub sectional Regional Office for the Lighthouse-Skerries on the 4th of February 2005, by the Vizierate of Home Affairs.
